Bracketology: The Chaos Continues

I don’t know how you feel, but to me, this is one of the most exciting college basketball seasons I can remember.  The uncertainty and the parity are unmatched in recent history.  Take this, for example: since my last update on Tuesday, teams on my 1-5 lines combined to go only 7-10.  That includes losses by the entire 5 line.  It is absolutely unpredictable at this point and indicates that it will be true March Madness this year, starting on Selection Sunday.

At the cut line, Western Kentucky of Conference USA is now threatening to take an at-large bid from a major conference team.  They own a neutral-court win over Purdue, who is projected by some right now to be the overall number 1 seed, as well as a neutral-court win over SMU, who just won at Wichita State.  Let’s see how this plays out.

With all that said, here’s today’s update.  As always, moves up or down since last time are in parentheses after the team’s name.

In since last time: SMU

9s – Nevada, Louisville (+1), Florida State, Notre Dame (-1)

10s – Missouri (-1), Texas (+1), Syracuse, Alabama

11s – Marquette (-1), Providence, North Carolina State, USC, SMU (new), UCLA

12s – New Mexico State, Buffalo, Belmont, Vermont (+1)

13s – Middle Tennessee (-1), Missouri State, South Dakota State, Louisiana-Lafayette

14s – East Tennessee State, Stephen F. Austin, Wright State, Montana

15s – Radford, Florida Gulf Coast, UC Davis, Bucknell (+1)

16s – William & Mary (-1), Penn, Rider, Wagner, North Carolina Central, Jackson State

FIRST FOUR OUT – Western Kentucky (+2), Georgia (+2), Maryland (+1), Baylor

NEXT FOUR OUT – Houston, Washington (-1), LSU, Boise State (+1)

THIRD FOUR OUT – South Carolina (+1), Colorado, San Diego State (-2), Minnesota (-1)

So, that will do it for today.  As always, if you want to rip me because I have your team too low or want to discuss anything else related to bracketology, feel free to do so in the comments.  And as always, remember to check out the Bracket Matrix, a must for those of us who are obsessed with this stuff.
